The training site, first and foremost, provides hands-on training and real life firefighting scenarios to students seeking a Fire Protection Technician Associate Degree. The facility is also available for training local fire departments, private industry and other government agencies. The site consists of a three story masonry burn building, splash board, repelling wall, roof, flammable liquid and natural gas simulators and a Driver/Operator EVOC track. Specialized training is also available and includes a 5' to 22' below grade confined space training area, trench rescue and Swede Survival flash-over simulator. The training site has two fire engines, a fully equipped hazardous materials response training unit and equipment for training in every aspect of the Fire Service.
The two year Fire Protection Technician Associate Degree (70 credits) aligns with other Fire Technician Programs statewide and has state certifications, interviewing techniques and opportunities to serve as an intern at local fire departments integrated within the program.
