Northeast Wisconsin Technical College

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College’s Public Safety Training Center has a 2017 custom-built Fire Facilities training structure. This four story steel fire training tower includes three class A burn rooms, a four story elevator shaft for confined space rescue, floor collapse and car fire simulators, and a second floor balcony for basement fire attacks.

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College offers a two year Fire Medic Associate Degree. A graduate of the Fire Medic AAS degree program is cross-trained in fire protection/fire suppression and emergency medical services (EMS) at the advanced life support (ALS) paramedic level.

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College offers a Fire Science Technical Diploma.The program will train basic fire behavior, techniques used to control structural and related fire emergencies and life safety practices. This program will provide an overview to fire protection; career opportunities in fire protection and related fields; philosophy and history of fire protection/service, fire loss analysis; organization and function of public and private fire protection services; fire departments as a part of local government; laws and regulations affecting the fire service; and fire service nomenclature. Students may earn their Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Driver Operator-Pumper, and Fire Inspector state certifications.   Fire Science Internships are required and available at several Fire Departments in the state of Wisconsin. EMT Licensure is highly recommended. The Fire Science Technical Diploma ladders into the Fire Medic Associates Degree.
