Initiatives
The Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) and its partners are committed to promoting student success initiatives and best practices that help to guide our students onto a path, keep our students on their path, and prepare them to confidently enter the workforce. Some of the exciting initiatives that are currently in progress throughout the Wisconsin Technical College System are:
60 Forward
Postsecondary attainment refers to the percentage of working-age residents – those ages 25 to 64 – who have earned a credential beyond high school, such as a certificate, diploma or degree, or completion of a registered apprenticeship. Higher attainment rates are tied to higher earnings and labor force participation. For more information go to 60Forward.org.
Credit For Prior Learning
Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) refers to the granting of credit for subject matter mastery that has been accumulated from outside the degree granting institution. Some examples include transfer credits, articulated high school credits, and learning through work or other non-classroom experience. CPL is described in more detail in the new Educational Services Manual, Chapter 10. Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) is a process the subject matter eperts uses to evaluate mastery.
WLDI (Wisconsin Leadership Development Institute)
The Wisconsin Technical College System celebrates its successful leadership development program. Since 1995, 642 WTCS administrative and faculty leaders have completed the program. Individual colleges and the System are strengthened through the enhanced leadership skills of its current and future leaders.
