Data Governance

The WTCS has developed a ‘Data Governance Toolkit’ with an assessment tool. These resources can help colleges navigate data challenges, create a data governance team, build processes for cleaning, integrating, and securing data, and provide information on data ethics, balancing data defense and offense, and why all of this is important. In addition, these tools are openly licensed and can be redistributed and remixed as needed.

Steps for data quality cycle include (1) defining the data rules, (2) analyzing data and quality metrics, (3) making data quality improvements, (4) re-assessing data quality metrics and (5) sharing the results with data stewards and advisory committee.
