WTCS DEI Certificate

The WTCS DEI certificate online modules were created by a work group from the WTCS DEI Committee. The committee contracted a group of faculty fellows from across the system to create content for three online courses focused on creating a baseline for creating inclusive and welcoming environments to serve employees and students across the state. The three courses include:

  • An Introduction to DEI Terms and Concepts
  • Disrupting Bias 
  • Creating Inclusive Spaces 

It is expected that individuals will take an average of 2 hours to complete each of the three modules and an additional 2 hours of discussion for a total of 8 hours to complete the certificate.

Implementation

WTCS Colleges will be able to take the Articulate 360 file containing the three online modules and use them in a way that best serves your community including embedding them into existing training programs and courses. 

The minimum expectations for completing a DEI Certificate using these resources include:

  1. Completing all three online modules and, 
  2. Participating in a discussion session using the WTCS DEI Certificate Facilitator’s Guide to process the learning from these courses (either 1 of the 3 system-wide synchronous discussions described below, or an opportunity provided by the college). 

Colleges are asked to collect the names of individuals at your college who have completed all three modules. This information will help the WTCS DEI Committee track participation. Additionally, surveys will be sent to this group of individuals to obtain feedback on the content of the certificate and availability of discussion sessions.

System-wide Discussion Sessions

The WTCS DEI Committee will offer two online synchronous opportunities for WTCS faculty and staff that completed the three modules at their institution to connect with each other and discuss the material. The sessions will be facilitated by a team of leaders from the WTCS DEI Committee. The dates and times of the two sessions offered this academic year are below. You can find registration links with calendar invites for each session below. This information will also be accessible at the end of the last module. 

The committee is also putting together a facilitator’s guide that will be shared with this group in the future to support colleges in creating opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to debrief and discuss the online course content at your institution.
