Lightning Presentations
You are invited to contribute to a series of lightning presentations focusing on Adult Education and English as a Second Language instruction. Accepted presentations will be posted on the Common Ground web page and all conference attendees will have access to them before and after the Common Ground Conference on October 29 & 30.
What are Lightning Presentations?
Lightning presentations are a brief yet powerful way to share your knowledge about classroom practices, routines, and resources in an efficient and engaging matter. Please note, that this is instructor-focused. Each presentation will be limited to 5 minutes.
The list of possible topics is below, but if you have an idea that is not listed, please send it on.
- Integrating and contextualizing digital skills in the classroom
- Curriculum design for diverse adult populations
- Civic engagement in the ESL or AE classroom
- Assessment techniques
- Cultural considerations in adult education
- Developing standards-aligned lessons for adult learners
- Strategies for facilitating successful post-secondary transitions
- Serving adults with emerging literacy skills
- Best practices for conducting effective orientations
- Evidence based reading or math instruction
- Classroom routines
- GED/HSED
- AI prompts for lesson planning
Submit your idea using this form. The form closes on September 15th, 2024.
You will be notified once we have reviewed the submissions. If accepted, you will be required to record your lightening talk and submit it to Cristina Parente, Education Director, English Language Learning by October 15th, 2024.
