Fire and Emergency Services Instructor I
*NOTE* Wisconsin Fire Service certifications for “Fire Instructor” and “Emergency Services Instructor” are equivalent to this certification at each level. This course was renamed in 2021 to match the NFPA 1041 standard name.
This 40-hour course prepares the participant to perform fire instruction duties at a nationally recognized level.
This course is designed to provide the Fire and Emergency Services Instructor I candidate with the information needed to meet the job performance requirements (JPRs) in National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1041, Standard for Fire Service Instructor Professional Qualifications, Chapter 4, 2019 Edition. Course curriculum is based on the Jones and Bartlett Fire and Emergency Services Instructor Principles and Practice, 3rd Edition curriculum and NFPA 1041, Chapter 4, 2019 edition.
A 100-question written exam and 30-hours of supervised instruction will complete the certification process for this course. A participant who completes this course and wishes to be certified has two years from the completion of the course to take the written exam and fulfill the 30-hours of supervised instruction requirement (Please Note: All 30-hours shall occur after successful completion of the course). Participants who successfully pass the certification exams will receive a State of Wisconsin Certificate with an IFSAC (International Fire Service Accreditation Congress) seal.
