The Literacy Information and Communication System (LINCS)

LINCS is a national leadership initiative of the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (OCTAE) to expand evidence-based practice in the field of adult education.

LINCS demonstrates OCTAE’s commitment to delivering high-quality, on-demand educational opportunities to practitioners of adult education, so those practitioners can help adult learners successfully transition to postsecondary education and 21st century jobs.

LINCS consists of the following components:

  1. LINCS Resource Collection a collection of vetted resources for adult education practitioners
  2. LINCS Community an online community of practice
  3. Learning Portal online courses for adult education practitioners
  4. State Resources professional development and technical assistance opportunities for States and information on current and past Federal initiatives.
  5. Learner Center resources for adult learners

You will need to register with LINCS in order to access  resources and to participate in events.

How LINCS  online courses work

Option #1- Self Study

Instructors, program administrators, or staff enroll in the online class. Upon course completion, participants will receive a certificate from LINCS.  Instructors and program staff are encouraged to submit these certificates to their supervisors to fulfill FQAS requirements.

Option #2- WTCS Cohort

Instructors, program administrators or staff participate in a WTCS learning cohort. This option can be applied to FQAS requirements so speak with your supervisor for approval.

This is a flipped instruction model where participants complete specific course content on their own and meet with other learners  to reflect, discuss, and collaborate.

WTCS cohorts will be announced via email and will be posted on our Professional Development Page. Stay tuned for Fall 2023 opportunities.
